Mosaic Crochet Tutorial

Find a pattern or make one using the pattern generator.

Add 3 to the number of stitches wide the pattern is. The example is 15, so chain 18.

Insert the hook into the second stitch and single crochet across the row. Knot the end and cut the remaining yarn. This counts as your first row.

Starting in the first single stitch, pull the other color yarn through both loops and chain one. Single crochet into the same stitch.

The next row stays the same color. Since were now crocheting with the other color, single crochet into the back loop. This allows the current color to be covered up later.

Single crochet into the back loop of each stitch. In the last stitch, single crochet into both loops. Tie off and cut the remaining yarn.

Alternate the colors and begin the next row.

Since the first 7 stitches stay the same color, double crochet into the front loop of the row before the last. Do this for 7 stitches.

Single crochet into the back loop of the eight stitch to reveal the darker color.

Double crochet into the remaining stitches (single crochet through both loops of the last stitch). Tie of the end and cut the remaining yarn.

Alternate the colors and attach the yarn to the next row.

The first 4 stitches are white, so single crochet into the back loop.

The next 3 stitches are the color of the current yarn. Since there isn’t a loop available in the row before last, double crochet into the front loop of the current row instead.

Continue following the pattern until it’s complete.

Optional: Add a border to hide the loose yarn. Make sure to do 3 stitches into the corners so the border remains square.
